(After/Because) I had become healthy again, I had taken on different challenges to change my life.

Both are natural and correct, but they have different uses:

After tells us WHEN I had taken on different challenges to change my life
Because tells us WHY I had taken on different challenges to change my life

So, should I say 'After I had become healthy again, I took on different challenges to change my life' if I use "After' instead of 'Because'?
I have never seen 'past perfect use' after 'after-clause'.
