"Will Have" Vs "Would Have"

Post by Brahman »

Dear teachers,

Which of the following sentences is grammatical?

1. I reckon, by Dec 2018, I will have decided.

2. I reckon, by Dec 2018, I would have decided.

In my opinion, only 1 is correct. What do you all think?

Thank you very much for your help.

I reckon I will have decided by December 2018. :ok:

As a stand-alone sentence #1 is correct (though your punctuation is a bit illogical).

#2 needs some kind of condition.

Thank you very much, Joe. Sorry for the late reply.

By the bye, could you tell me why you think the punctuation in sentence 1 is "illogical"? I thought it is fine to enclose parenthetical expressions between commas.
