Is the spelling in the following sentence correct?

Post by YoriHQ »

The sentence is:

"Awarded a departmental certificate of excellence in July 2011. "

(it's some kind of award I got during my past job).

Maybe the expression as below is more perfect.

I was awarded a certificate of departmental excellence in July 2011.

Thanks for the help.

The thing is that I want to write this sentence in my resume, and I understood that using "I" isn't recommended in general when writing resumes.

Does the original sentence that I wrote has some mistakes or something like that?

It's fine as it is, but might be better with some capital letters:

Awarded a departmental Certificate of Excellence in July 2011.

This gives more "weight" or importance to the certificate, but it's really a question of style. You can do it either way.
