Hello all,
would you please explain to me the different meanings of cause and reason. Because some times i found them used as synonyms ,and also have different meanings.

The word 'cause' identifies what makes something happen, as in cause and effect.
e.g. "What was the cause of the accident?
Answer: "The driver went through a red light."
The word 'reason' answers the question WHY?
e.g. "Why did the accident happen?"
Answer: "Because (the reason was) the driver went through a red light.
