Did he call from the intercom or did he call with the intercom ?

Some one called to open the door .

Seems to me that both are "possible". But I believe the idiomatic form would be:

Did he call on the intercom?

For example, you call people ON the phone.

No , it is about calling on my phone with another device.
The fedex guy called me using the intercom outside my building .
How will you put it ?
Did he call from the intercom on my cell phone?

He called my cellphone from the intercom.
