"The cat is sat." Grammatically Wrong or Right?

Hello,
Is the following sentence right or wrong grammatically?
"The cat is sat."

Sat tends to take an object. (as it is an intransitive verb)

Here we would usually say:-

"The cat is seated"

or

"The cat is sitting"

Sorry I've explained this somewhat poorly.

1. "sit" is usually intransitive but intransitive verbs don't take an object.
2. That being said, "sit" does usually need an adverb or preposition.
