Could you also give me some help with this paragraph:

"Later on, I realized that the miniature boat I had been chasing for a while was after all a remote control boat, and it belonged to the children of the American family installed on the beach on my side.
As I sat again on the sand, I felt so embarrassed, that I no longer was able to look at the right, and I could hear the children speaking and laughing."

Note: It's my intention to try to avoid the use of the verb form 'could' twice ("I was so embarrased that I could no longer..." and "I could hear them speaking and laughing...") Or do you think that's unavoidable?

'I was no longer able to look to the right' and 'I could no longer look to the right' are both fine.
