Is the sentence is grammatically correct?

Post by azlieazlie »

Hi,

May I know whether the following sentence is grammatically correct:

“Based on the previous meeting, he was of the opinion that the project is not viable.”

Thank you.

Hi.
Because you sentence was talking about something that has happened (Previous meeting), it tells me it is talking about the past. This means we need to change the end of the sentence to the past tense. IS becomes WAS.

“Based on the previous meeting, he was of the opinion that the project was not viable.”

Hi sir. If I use this sentence, it will not indicate the fact that he still thinks the project is not viable until now, right? Thank you.

Based on the sentence, he still doesn't think the project is viable.

If you say to me, "I didn't eat the carrot soup yesterday because I don't like carrots". Will you like carrots today? No, you still don't like carrots. He didn't think the project was good yesterday, so today the project is still not good in his mind unless of course, something else changed in the project that made him change his mind.
