Why is it "badminton" and not "batminton"? It seems we play badminton with something which looks like a bat.
Is there an origin for "badminton", which caused it to be spelt thus?
Thanks!

Re: Origin of "badminton"
Yes, there's a historical origin:
Badminton is a village in Gloucestershire, England, where the game in its modern form was first played, in about 1873.
