Is this sentence sound natural?
On 23 August 1346, King Edward was forced to risk his life and the fate of his army by taking an unequal battle with twice the French army

First point your question should be:
Does this sentence sound natural?
Second point it sounds natural up until “the fate of his army”. After that point the meaning is not clear
Do you mean that the French army was twice the size of his army?

Above is not very elegant but at least it’s understandable :))
