Making a stand against corruption is a waste of time.

Making a stand against corruption is a waste of time. We should just learn to live with it.

What do you think?

The question is: is doing nothing a waste of time?

If you try to do something about it, then something may happen to change it. If you do nothing about it, then there's no hope of it ever changing.

It may be difficult, it may be nigh on impossible, but even so... possible.

Dreams don't come true... they're made to come true.

I agree. I am often reminded of the people power wherein the people marched on the streets and made a stand here in the Philippines during the Marcos regime. Sorry if you're not familiar with what i'm talking about..here's a link if you wanna know.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferdinand_Marcos Had the people remained silent and unassertive, Marcos could've continued his term. He and his cronies has stolen alot from this country, wasted alot of money. I still think that making a stand on these issues means alot. "Living with it" is for me never a good idea. Soon, it will become a part of us, what good would it do? Not a nice thing to pass on to our successors.

Exactly! I am aware of the march and I was really in awe of the courage the people showed. It does take a lot of strength and courage to do that.

Like China and the demonstration in Tiananmen Square. You may not always be successful, but I think that it's important to try. Although I understand the consequences can be very severe, you or your family could be killed. So,it's a very subjective choice; to demonstrate or not. I understand those who consider change to be worth the risk; and I understand those who consider the risk to be too great.

The question is; what do you want your children to inherit?

sOmetimes i think in the same way.Because it sounds impossible to stand against corruption.Even if u want to stand against it, u find few supporters or few people who understands u .Actually, lots of people lost their life for the sake of this struggle and what did they achieve? Basically nothing, the same rat race is going on and people sre continuing to ruin the world with their greedy desires.
I,myself cannot find enough courage to struggle with the corruptions.

CORRUPTION-A STAND ?WHY NOT.

THE FEELING OF BEING LONELY IN A CERTAIN FIELD IS SO TERRIBLE TO ANY IDIVIDUAL .THAT'S WHY NOT MANY PEOPLE CAN BE STRONG ENOUGH TO GO AGAINST THIS TO THE LAST MINUTES OF HIS LIFE.HOWEVER, DOING NOTHING LIKE WAITING SOMETHING HOPELESSLY-YOU KNOW IT'S COMING AND TAKING OVER YOU/AFFECT IN SOME WAY TO THE SOCIETY /TO THE NEXT GENERATION ,BUT YOU JUST ..PONDER.YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN HERE.THAT FEELING -LONELINESS-IS SO AWEFUL.NO HELP/ NO SUPPORT.SO, IF MANY OF US GET TOGETHER GIVING SUPPORT TO EACH OTHER,THAT WILL TURN INTO A BIG HIT -A BIG STRENGTH . :P

But often you plant the desire for change in the hearts of people. I think that that is a very important first step.

Even if you stand up against corruption and you don't get to change anything, people notice and society is changed in a very small way. Even though you can't see it at that moment.

This seed will grow inside the hearts of this society secretly, until one day it just has to blossom. Look at India as an example. Look at South Africa as an example. Look at Brazil as an example.

Change is not always immediate. Sometimes it is a process that requires generations. Each generation making small and sometimes unseen changes.

If you were ever trying to "live with it" while you are aware of it,you are feeding it,isn't it?

standing against corruption...

I believe it is more urgent now than anytime else to stand against corruption otherwise we will come to a time that we might not find anybody who dares to start such a discussion. We need to start with ourselves and people around us. Where there is a will, there is a way. I think we need to start discussing ways to stand against corruption.

If everybody says "What is it to me?", can there be a solution?

When we look deeply to internationally well-known leaders' life, we see that they had became the first around them who stands agains problems one time..

Especially if the matter is universal, nobody has the right to say "it is none of my business".. It is all of the people's business..

In my opinion...

maybe

To me,we must struggle for this every time. Otherwise, corruption keeps on and one day we can't stop it.At beginnig,we must prevent this bad situtation. At least we must oppose it.

First, struggle with yourself.

"If you never say anything about disturbed yourself, ..... . Yes, what will happen or what happens? Complete your sentence.

Remember the "if clause" structure;

If....., .... . or
..... if .... .

For instance, If you do that, I will do this.
If you do that, I do this.

This is only one type.

And read my previous post about this topic before making comment on the previous pages, please. Your answer is there :)

Good-bye

just by not being a participant in corruption we are already doing something to change it.

you can not fight it, at least over here most people don't care and the ones that do get killed for trying to change things. so it's stupid to fight it with only a few people and it's hard to make a conseince on everybody since there is a lot of people who benefits from it and believe me, it's hard to change a person's mind if they benefit from it.

this problem is very related to economy. When someone is very poor and they have a family to take care of, they find it easy to get money from corruption, so you can't judge all people or expect everyone to want to change it.

and then again there's many levels and types of corruption. have you ever copied a friend's homework or cheated in any way on a test? well this is also corruption in a way. and don't tell me you have never done it because we all have (good for you if you have never copied or cheated, you should run for president  )

in my opinion, the way things are right now, just by not participating in it we are making a change. and of course teaching morals and values to the next generations will help in the future (if there is one  )

Hard does not mean impossible.

We all know that it is not easy to eradicate corruption. But at least we have to minimise it.

Eliminating : impossibble
Minimising : possible

So let's take part in standing against corruption and bribery.

Let's hang the corruptors !!!

I disagree with this statement. Probably, corruption is a style of life in some countries, maybe it is the nature of human being but people through the their history have tried to extirpate corruption activity. However, this straggle allows keeping a balance betveen good and bad staff which happen around the world, especially amongst governments. For example, in Australia amongst Aussie this word "corruption" as a plague-spot and many believe that we must struggle with that. Maybe it's a question of faith?!
