reflexive ourself?

Post by googl »

Dear Alan,

I found a word "ourself" in a dictionary. It was written that it is a reflexive pronoun. Why not "ourselves"? ("ourselves" was too, so it is not a typo)

It exists, but is very rare, effectively being usable only by a monarch employing the so-called royal 'we', who might say e.g. 'We wish for good fortune both for our country and for OURSELF'.
