linking words

hi. i notice that when we link the following words using "want to" there a difference with "he, she and it".
for example, when we use "I, we, they or you" it sounds like this:
I want to - I wanna, etc.
but when using he,she or it its sounds different:
He wants to - He wans-ta.
is because of the "s" ??
thanks!
