Dear teacher,

"They were warned a year ago, again, and yet they didn't take the steps to try to do something about it," Mr. Kerry added. "Why am I advertising on it? Because it's a serious demonstration of the failure of leadership."

Q : What is a difference between "advertise it" and "advertise on it" ?

It's an AmE colloquialism. 'Advertising it' would be standard.
