Dear teacher,

"He said that he was resigning to the Press."

Someone said the sentence is an ungrammatical sentence.

Could you explain the reason the sentence is wrong?

I see nothing ungrammatical here, only a rather unnatural choice of expressions. Better would be 'He TOLD the Press that he was resigning.'
