Dear teacher,
you use 'alone' for general activities and 'on your own' for specific activities. Is it right?

Not necessarily, but 'alone' is more formal than 'on your own', and is therefore, I suppose, the more likely to occur in formal contexts referring to general, rather than to specific, activities.
