Alternative structure and the Future Perfect Progressive

Post by Alex Leskov »

Dear Members of the Help Desk,

I still wonder whether the following sentence could be replaced
with an alternative construction beginning with It will be

Next year we'll have been studying biology for 4 years.

Next year it will be 4 years since we have been studying biology. (acceptable?)

Thank you in advance.

Not really. 'It will be four years since we started...' would be possible, though (if not especially idiomatic).
