nominal clause

Post by Joon »

I think one of my distant relations was on the Mayflower.

(D1) "One of my distant relations was on the Mayflower." is a subordinate clause.

(D2) "One of my distant relations was on the Mayflower." a noun clause.

Are the both descriptions above correct?

Yes.

N.B.
(1)Any noun, or 'nominal', clause is by definition a subordinate clause.

(2)It is also an elliptical clause, since the conjunction 'that' is omitted.
