Greetings,

What is the past tense for the word "cost" ?

If I wanted to say :-
"This shirt costed me $100."

Is it correct?

And, what is the past tense for the word "defect" ?

Can I say :-
"They will not accept defected goods."

The past tesne of 'cost' is 'cost' (no change).

'Defect' (in the sense you mean) is a noun, not a verb, and therefore has no past tense. The corresponding adjective form, however, is 'defective'.
