had got?

Dear teacher,
I was taught that "got" is not used with "have" in the past like "I had got a car", but the book "Oxford guide to english grammar" says that it is possible although a bit unusual. So I got confused whether it could be used or not and when.

It is not worth concerning yourself with a usage so rare and confined to spoken British English.
Use 'had'!
