I know it should be "will" but why???????

"The sellers in the souk were very aggressive. If you don’t have determination, your purse would be empty."

A conditional sentence with a present tense form (don't) as the main verb cannot be combined with a subordinate clause with 'would(n't)'. I suggest that you check the rules relating to the formation of conditional sentences at the ESL Learning Centre!
