With or without a comma

Dear teacher,

I couldn't find the answer from a dictionary, therefore I posted my question here.

Normally, I write in an email, something like: "May I have your comments on the document please?" or "For your information please".

Recently, I noticed some people adding a comma before "please", i.e. "May I have your comments on the document, please?" or "For your information, please".

My questions are:
1. What is the difference?
2. In a formal communication (thru email), which is more appropriate? (I mean is adding a comma makes the sentence more formal?)

Strictly speaking, the comma is correct.
