Hello, Alan!

I would like to know which sentence is correct:

(a) 'If I were mayor, I would follow the expression: 'Less talk, more work.' or
(b) 'If I were a mayor, I would follow the expression: 'Less talk, more work.'

Should we use the article 'a' in this case?

Both possible. The first would be referring to the mayor of a specific place (already discussed/understood).
