Dear Alan
Usually, an adjective or adjectival complement is used with a be-verb or a link verb, and an adverb or adverbial complement is generally used with transitive or intransitive verb. Can an adjectival complement be used with an intransitive verb as in 'You should live independent of your parents'?
With regards

Re: Adjectival complement and an intransitive verb
Yes, this kind of construction is certainly possible. Even nouns can on occasion complement intransitive verbs, e.g.
They parted friends.
(= as friends)
They parted friends.
(= as friends)
