Post by TomStudy »

Dear teacher,

If I want to report the father's story in the situation below:

The father tell a story to his daughter as below:
" long time ago, a child was born to a queen and king and she was called Snow White. When the queen died, the king married again..... "

When I report this in a statement do I need to change all verbs into past perfect as below:

the father told his daughter a story as below:
long time ago, a child had been born to a queen and king and she had been called Snow White. When the queen had died, the king had married again.....

please give me any advice, thanks

No, because the story is not contained in the same sentence.
