Hi, I'm teaching a class in a couple days and I'm a bit unsure of the request that has been given to me. It states that I need to focus on differentiating between substantive (am, are, is was and were) and general verbs (non to be do or have verbs). I always thought general verbs expressed a state of being. What would be some examples of general verbs? Unless he means simply the verbs on their own?
Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Grammar request.

Re: Grammar request.
To the best of my knowledge, the term 'general verbs' has no currency among grammarians. I suggest you get clarification directly from the author!
