Present Participle

Post by jasonkhlim »

Hello guys.
I have been thinking about this type of sentence pattern, Comma verb ing. I think they are basically called Present Participle.

And I think that they answer the question ''How'', am I right about this?

For example: ''I signed up for a business class, shopping online.''

Is there any mistake in my example?

Thank you.

Although identical in form to the present participle, the example you cite here (shopping) would be classified as a gerund, or verbal noun. Some linguists nowadays, however, consider the difference to be insignificant.
