In spite of & Such as +?

Post by McKinney »

Hi, I can't find information about what I can put after "in spite of" and "such as". Are any of the following correct? Are there any rules?

In spite of having fun...
In spite of her having fun...
In spite of she having fun...
In spite of have fun...
In spite of to have fun...
In spite of good night...

There was lots to do, such as singing, dancing...
There was lots to do such as to sing, to dance...
There was lots to do, such as I sang, danced...
There was lots to do, such as me singing, dancing...

Your help is really appreciated! Thanks.

"In spite of" can be followed by either a noun or a gerund (an -ing form). Examples 1 & 2 in your list are possible.

The same applies to "such as", and so #1 in your list is possible.
