Adjective Order

Post by McKinney »

Hi Alan,

Can you tell me why the word order in these sentences are different if it's: style - colour - noun? Is it because "dark" isn't a colour?

She has curly red hair.
She has dark curly hair.

Thanks a lot!

These rules of adjective order are subject to minor variations, even among natives.

'Dark' and 'light' are, as you suspect, not treated exactly the same as simple colour adjectives.
