Because&because of
I read a poem of Thomas Browne---<Love>, but I can not understand the first sentence "I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you".In my opinion, "who you are" is a clause, so "because of" should be replacement by "because".What's your advice? I am waiting for your reply.

Yes, 'who you are ' is a clause, but it is a NOMINAL clause, functioning here as the object of the preposition 'of'.
It means: because you are the person that you are.
It means: because you are the person that you are.
