one of them didn't

Post by azz »

Can one use
a. One of his officers did not save him. His daughter saved him.
instead of
b. It wasn't one of his officers who saved him. It was his daughter.
?

The idea is that the statement 'One of his officers saved him.' is incorrect. None of his officers saved him. The person who saved him was his daughter.

Many thanks.

Not really.

(a) is nonstandard/casual.
