I would appreciate your opinions for following sentences:
1. Do I need to know grammar?
2. Do I need to know about grammar?
Which sentence is to say "Do I need to learn grammar forms/structures/functions," while know+DO(person/people) implies recognition to each other and know about+DO(person/people) implies knowledge without experience.
Know about, to me, sounds that the term "grammar" is new information to the agent. So the former is more equivalent?
Know/Know about + Obj. (non-human)

Both are grammatical. In context, I would see little real semantic difference between the two.
