come + V-ing

Post by Rustamsher »

1) He came hurrying up the path.
2) She came running across the field.
3) The horse came racing around the corner.
4) My dog always comes bounding out of the car.

In this case is V-ing a gerund or an participle?

Thanks.

I would call it a participle (although some linguists nowadays no longer consider the distinction important).
