Adjuncts and adverbs

Post by Sproutius »

Hi

In the sentence ‘I’m going out later’ is ‘later’ an adverb as it describes the verb or an adjunct as it contributes additional information to the sentence in terms of when the subject is going out? Or have I got this completely wrong?! Any help greatly appreciated.

Well, an adjunct is simply a kind of adverbial (i.e. word/phrase serving an adverbial function), so it would count as both!
