For a second time vs For the second time

Post by trungtran »

Could you tell me when to use "for a second time" and "for the second time"?
For example.
1. I went to the supermarket for the second time to buy some milk.
2. I went to the supermarket for a second time to buy some milk.
Which one is correct?

There is no real difference between the two. If in doubt in such cases, simply use the definite article.
