The right tense

Hi everyone,

I would like to ask whether the underlined tenses used in the following sentences are correct, if not, may you please explain why? Please don't comment on the choice of verbs, I've found them like this.


1) A lot of buildings collapsed and thousands of people were killed after the earthquake broke out.

2) It is expected that the bridge will be built by late 2018. Construction is now in progress.

3) With the escalating number of immigrants, the languages used in Hong Kong have diversified.

All are acceptable, although in (2) 'will have been built' would be considered more precise.
