third person singular with "or".

If you have a plural subject, e.g. John and Jane, I know you add an s to the verb. What about if the subject is John or Jane.

For example

John or Jake take the rubbish outside / John or Jane takes the rubbish outside.

takes: agreement with nearest noun.
