a. He is the sort of person you see and you think he must be a member of the armed forces or something.

b. He was the man I saw and I thought he must be a member of the armed forces or something.

c. She is the sort of woman you see in this college and you wonder if she is a student or a very young professor.

d. She was the woman I saw and wondered if she was a student at this college or a very young professor.


Are the above sentences grammatical?

Except (d), grammatically possible (though not necessarily well constructed!)
