Problem with contraction "There's "

Post by OBurnasenkov »

  • In the lyrics there is a line "She says there's ants in the carpet" and i'm confused about contraction. I guess author meant "there is" but it is wrong because ants are plural. Can anybody help me with this one? Thanks.

It's nonstandard: should be 'there are', but this kind of usage is common in conversation.
