Identify apposition

Post by newbielearn »

In this sentence " Then, embark on a bike ride through the Balagne, an area with numerous hilltop villages with views on the Bay of Calvi. "

What is the apposition of Balagne ? is it "an area" ? or "an area with numero hilltop villages" ?

The noun Balagne is in apposition to the entire noun phrase an area...villages, whose head is NP 'an area'.
