Hey im learning english and I have this problem:
Eg. I wish I were taller.
Why not:
I wish I could be taller.?
Because as i understoon would/could is for unlikely to happen desirers or we regret smth in present.
How to see difference between wishes in past form and would form?

Both grammatical, but simple 'were' is a little more idiomatic.
