Hi,

Recently I have run into some difficulties that I can not seem to get my head around it, more specifically with this little sentence:

I liked to go to the movies on the weekends.

I liked going to the movies on the weekends- is incorrect also...

I have liked going to the movies ?

I know the issue is with the tense here but I'm not entirely sure what the problem is and that's a problem :P

There is nothing grammatically wrong with the sentence

I have liked going to the movies.

However, it is relatively rare to find the verb 'like' used in the present perfect except when modified by a phrase such as 'since (1980)' or 'for (ten years)'.

Hence, to a native ear, the sentence sounds incomplete.
