the use of "both of which" in the sentence

Hi, pls help with the following sentence:
"A can be converted to B and C both of which contain a oxygen"
(1) is it correct to use "both of which" here?
(2) a oxygen, or oxygens?

1.Yes.
2. Neither. --> oxygen
