appears only vs only appears

Post by tamguatlay »

Writers are sometimes confused whether to use vie or vye. To vye is the obsolete form of to vie. The letter y only appears in vying.

Would it be wrong if rephrased as "The letter y appears only in vying"?

Thanks!
