correct usage: [a scare a few times] or [a few scares]

I have made up the examples below.

(1) Over the past two months, we have had a scare a few times in our factory. Two months ago, one of our coworkers almost injured his head. Last month, we almost had a fire. Yesterday, our gas tank leaked.

(2) Over the past two months, we have had a few scares in our factory. Two months ago, one of our coworkers almost injured his head. Last month, we almost had a fire. Yesterday, our gas tank leaked.

Which highlighted phrase is correct? Please help me. Thank you very much for your help.

#2 is idiomatic.
