Dear Alan,

I was rather puzzled when somebody told me that below, a preposition of place, should follow the noun. In other words, it is wrong to say The chapter covers the below points. Instead, we should say The chapter covers the points below.

Is it really so?

Yes, you can say (in formal style) the above points but not *the below points.
