Present perfect tense plus progressive verb tense.

Post by puchi »

I think I have heard this somewhere.
Is it ok to say this?
1.We have focused on studying the grammar.
2. I have never tried wearing that mask.

Is there a rule in grammar that present perfect tense can also be joined by present progressive verb tense?
I'm not sure but I think I have heard it somewhere.
Anyhow, could someone help me clarify this with an easy explanation?
I would totally appreciate it. Thank you. :-)

You seem to be labouring under a misunderstanding: the combination of tenses that you describe is not present in the examples you cite (where 'studying' and 'wearing' are simple gerunds functioning as objects).
