Comma and "and"

Post by fishtank »

I am currently finishing up my thesis and I have some trouble with setting a comma in the opening paragraph. Here is the sentence:

"I will argue that there is an intimate relation between knowledge and action[,] and that exploring this relation will provide us with an explanatorily powerful view about practical rationality."

Maybe it is just my brain not working anymore but I wonder whether I have to put a comma behind "action". If that makes a difference: The thesis is written in British English.

Thanks!

(We don't normally answer questions about punctuation here, but...) The comma is optional here, but advisable.
