grateful for or to?

Schooling said yesterday that he was "very grateful" for the Government's "non-unwavering support" in his swimming career, and added that without deferring his National Service, he would not have achieved the results he did..."

Should it be "very grateful" to instead? If not, what is the reason?

Correct as written: grateful TO somebody FOR something.
