a doctor and philanthropist

Post by azz »

a. A doctor and a philanthropist is waiting for you in the lobby.

Is (a) grammatically correct?

The idea is that one person who is a doctor and a philanthropist is waiting in the lobby, but it seems to me that (a) doesn't work.
'A doctor and a philanthropist' means two people not not.

Many thanks.

Not correct.

To designate the same person, we would say 'A doctor and philanthropist...'.
